Collective Presencing

January 12, 2022

In this session on Collective Presencing, we introduced a way to orient to the present moment as it lives between/within us through the Fourfold. Each moment, we stand on all that has gone before. This includes language, history, personal stories, the present context that we share and so forth. We are also open to that which is not yet but is imminent and extends forward in time. This is experienced as a felt potential or possibility unique to this moment we are together. We are also mortals who exist in time–and this time-boundedness is also true of our time together, this moment, right now. And there is always present in life and in our togetherness the taste of deep meaningfulness. Heidegger, whose approach this is, referred to this dimension as “messengers of the gods.” By that he meant glimpses of the infinite or eternal that we humans inherently recognize as meaningful. While we will explore these four elements in our practice, they are not actually meant to be discussed so much as they are meant to provide another way of being that is not so transfixed by our separateness. Through standing in and as the Fourfold, we engage in an open, shared space of presence.

In your practice group, relate to the space you are in as the Fourfold. Explore how this opens up the living, changing moment into a collective experience of presence in the present.
