In our third session, we wanted to move from the radical openness of meditation into a conscious attitude and motivation that supports the opening of the living field of coherence between us. How can we best support the coherence of the space between us? Meditation and letting go leads directly to not knowing. Not knowing doesn’t mean that you know nothing, but it means letting go of as much of your own agenda or assumptions (particularly about others) as possible. This is an ongoing practice. When we let go deeply, and don’t already know, then we make space within ourselves for a deep motivation, a longing, to pull us. This depth–a depth wherein you experience what you are meant for–is not personal to you (although it is felt very personally). It is a deep life impulse. Staying with the longing opens you to a more existential dimension of our humannness. This is what we bring into emergent dialogue, and this is what allows us to speak from the motive force that comes from the coherent field. Then, dialogue becomes a very different kind of exploration and inquiry.
